In 1989, completed his training at Animal Hamaguchi's Training Gym in Japan... In June 1996, Michinoku and Funaki joined Dick Togo, Shiryu, and Mens Teioh in Kaientai DX, or KDX. The group often clashed with the likes of Super Delfin and the Great Sasuke... On March 19, 1997, Funaki defeated Pantera for the UWA (Universal Wrestling Alliance) Middleweight title. In March 1998, Kaientai joined the WWF... The original group consisted of Michinoku, Funaki, Togo, and Teioh. The group managed by Yamaguchi-San. Kaientai feuded with The Oddities and in the summer of 1998... Funaki Reunited with Michinoku as Kaientai later in 1999. At Wrestlemania 2000, briefly held the WWF Hardcore title by defeating Viscera in a 13-man battle royal... On June 30, 2000, captured the TWA (Texas Wrestling Alliance) title from Charles Poindexter Anderson. On the August 29th "Smackdown" television taping, Kaientai upset the Dudley's Boyz thanks to outside interference from the Acolytes. Kaientai had paid the APA for protection... Funaki & Taka wrestled mostly on Jakked/Metal and Heat, they had brief feuds with the Acolytes, Crash Holly & Molly Holly and the Mean Street Posse. In late 2001, Taka injured his shoulder, and left Funaki to carry on as a singles wrestler. When the WWE roster split, he was put on Smackdown with the Cruiserweight division.Now Funaki Is SmackDown's Numba 1 Announcer,and Usaly Fights Dark matchs on velocity and Every Once and awhile Fights on SmackDown
